ABOUT ME
Hi, I am a freelance medical and health science writer with a PhD in Molecular Biology. During my 10 years of academic experience (as a researcher and an instructor), I developed a passion for science communication.
My strong technical background coupled with logical thinking, and a detail-oriented approach helps me translate complex biological concepts to an easy-to-understand format.

PhD Thesis: Role of ribosomal molecule uS9 in translation initiation and elongation
Summary
- Proteins are the workhorses of the cell. They perform a wide range of functions from product manufacture to breakdown, and recycle.
- They are synthesized by specialized machinery called ribosomes—made of hundreds of molecules, many of whose functions remain unknown.
- I studied the role of one such ribosomal molecule called uS9 in yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
- My research showed that uS9’s tail is important for initiating protein synthesis (translation). It also ensures accurate protein synthesis during translation elongation phase. This work was published in 2019, Nucleic Acids Research (IF: 14.9).
My doctrol training was in the laboratory of Dr. Anton A. Komar at Center for Gene Regulation in Health and Disease, Cleveland State University, Oh. Below is the list of my publications in peer-reviewed journals:
